You start by having 600 secs to build your little fort (protecting your spawn and flag) out of blocks with your team. These can go anywhere, float etc.
After that, combat begins which lasts the same amount of time. It's ctf with different classes. Engineer can dismantle the enemies blocks and repair his own teams etc.
It then goes back to a shorter build time where you can tweak your fort and repair blocks before combat starts again.

I practiced offline and on 81.19.209.10:27040 (beginner server) for a little bit first, it doesn't take too long to master it ;D
Remmeber you can freeze a block without having to drop it first and aiming for the top of a block lifts it higher in the air. Aiming for the bit nearest you will pic it up nearer the ground. For making verticle panels I aim nearest me, look up so it's vertical, drop it then freeze it just before it touches the ground.
It may seem like a lot of hassle but it's well worth sticking at it.
