I use same as Al and no probs here either. Also use Spybot and adaware. Once a month or so i go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/houseca ... t_corp.asp as it will occasionally find something the others have missed.

ATM im using Bitdefender 8 Pro. In Germany we had a test about all the AntiVirus Software and BitDefender had the most points. For ppl who will be sure, its also good to use two diffrent programms. The most effective software is AVG ANTIVIR xxx, the problem is thats its slow down the computer. If u have a fast CPU and enough RAM, u can use both.
Im also using SpyBot, XPAntiSpy, TuneUp Utilities and Ontrack FixIt Utilities to manage all antiSpy Software and Registy Data. But be careful if u dont understand the registry of WINDOWS, it could damage your PC.

On my old comp I used to use Norton Antivirus 2002 but it made our computer really slow. Not sure how it'd run on a computer with a spec like yours but may be worth a try because its quite a nifty scanner Also tried AVG antivirus about a year ago, which was pretty nice I guess, but at the time there wasnt a feature (that I could find) that'd let you remove viruses from individual folders, without running a full system scan. Since it used to take about a year to run a full system scan..AVG didnt stay very long on my computer
Currently using Avast! Antivirus: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edit ... ag=lst-0-1 and have no complaints so far. Its free (yay) but requires registration to use (takes about 2 minutes). It hasnt missed a thing in terms of viruses (I think) and doesnt eat up the system resources.
Happy hunting

Last week i had 64 viruses (including spywares) on my pc.
Ive downloaded the latest version of avg(its free) and it seems to be very good and effective...yeah but shortie is right...its a bit slower than the others but really good i think.
I also use spyhunter (latest version), its really effective vs spywares..and its fast as well....

The best u all can do, is using LINUX
If you're unsing Windows u should make a second account without any Access (only for Internet). Should also help a lot

I don't know the best as I've only really ever used Norton. But then I only use Norton because it comes with systemworks '05. For spyware I use Adaware/Spybot.
No problems, yadda yadda

The Microsoft AntiSpyware (in beta, still) works wonders for me. That and SpyBot combined do a great job.

Dont think much of AVG. Put it on a friends pc...he ran it for a couple of months then complained he was getting 100's of emails. Turned out he had some kind of mass mailing virus on his PC that was sending the same spam to 100's of PC's and it was doing it by sending random email addresses....the ones that didnt exist were getting returned to him!!!. AVG found only 1 thing and couldnt remove it either. I uninstalled it, put my faithful Norton on and it then found another 4 different virus that AVG had said nothing about Took a while but with Norton and some registry work we kicked it all into shape. Not keen on Microsofts 'effort' at antispyware either... the one I tried when it was first released happily sat their as I started to get things turn up on my PC. Spybots not bad for rooting out some things and AdAwares pretty good at getting rid of other stuff.
In the end Id say Shortie is right though... try to use more than one program to keep all these nasties out as Ive not seen one that does it all !!
