 Post subject: Spawn killers punishment

I was just wondering lately about alternate way of punishing spawn killers who are actually new to server in order to keep new players incoming, I know dc2 is very popular and filling server is not a problem but "never say never".

Right now you, our favourite admins (|:) , have !warn, !kick and of course !ban

Here is my question can admins !reset one players Xp ? Imo it can be quite nice form of warning Sk, as long as most SK comes with Rifle, Airstrikes etc. each activity requires skill bar....come on you know how it works, probably it will be quite annoying maybe even more that putting spec. It may be usefull step between !warn .... ! kick. (But have no idea if it's possible.)

My personal opinion is that it would be a too drastic step and to be honest, has very little do with spawnkilling (of course you gain xp by getting kills but still...), taking away the spawnkillers stats (kills count) affects them directly in regards to spawnilling. Also, if you put someone to spec because he spawnkilled on let's say map 5 in the rotation, he loses the stats for that time, but if you take away his XP, which he earned in 5 maps, because he spawnkilled on this map - that's just wrong. Very disproportional measure compared to the offense.

I do however agree that spawnkilling can ruin a map either way, but i think the steps we have in play are good enough, 1.) warn, 2.) put to spec, 3.) kick, 4.) if repeated despite all the previous steps, temp ban and the ultimate step if nothing else works is a permban.

Definitely a No on this suggestion from my side.

Been meaning to post on this as I have to agree with the OP, reset XP would be more of a deterrent than loss of kill stats and imo not disproportional to the amount of havoc spawn killing causes. SK often (& usually on some maps) affects the result of a whole map and maybe 20-30mins of the life of 32 players doing their best for their team by fair means. Conversely an reset XP affects only the perpetrator and as such is a better punishment than they deserve imo.

To qualify this, who cares about long term kill stats? I don't and I know I'm not a great player but still it doesn't even enter into the reason for me playing ET and so I doubt better players really regard these figures when choosing whether to Sk or not but fi they knew any XP would be reset if they did it say twice, then I do feel the occurance of SK's on the server would drop within a week or so.

Remember they do have the choice to SK or not so if they choose to then punishment which would hopefully teach them the error of their ways is better than kick to spec, temp ban and subsequent perm ban for repeat offenders as it keep them playing on the server - assuming they're clever enough to learn ;)
