Hi!

When there is an announcement, such as 'Dynamite planted' or 'They have breached the depot defenses' etc. my game will freeze for up to one second just before it's announced, this is annoying when in a firefight as it usually ends with me being killed.

I have tried several different sound and graphics drivers which didn't help.

Has anyone came across this before or have any ideas how I could fix it?

Cheers.

If it's not the Mysterons you could try creating a new profile in ET (just to eliminate the possibility that there's a bad setting in there causing the audio/frame glitch).
Also, did you use a driver removal program after uninstalling the drivers to make sure no remnants were left? I haven't had to use one of these for a while so unfortunately can't recommend any...
Oh, and if you have a sound-card (as opposed to built-in motherboard audio) you could check in device manager to ensure that it isn't sharing an IRQ with the graphics card (if it is, change the pci slot the sound-card is in).
You could try re-installing DirectX too.

I hope something there helps, was just shooting out ideas that came straight to mind :)

Good luck!

Lol @ rooster, haven't heard that but I do have voices in my head from time to time!

Thanks araknid but I've tried that, also my sound is on-board. (I didn't use a driver removal tool though)

My HDD failed a few months ago so I'm using a sata disk, I've just returned my SSD to be replaced under warranty so I will have a fresh windows install with fresh drivers when that arrives. I also got a new graphics card at the same time I started using the temp HDD... I think the issue started around that time.

Once the new HDD arrives and I have a fresh install I will hopefully be able to get this sorted as I'm getting killed so many times because of it.

I done some playing about last night and realised it doesn't happen every single time there's an announcement. When it happens my green lagometer goes up to about 1/3 but when I check my ping its still 50.

How dare you come on here and post in another thread that your no where near your old level but getting there then seek help to try get there quicker.

If anyone has a fix for SIR NUBBINz then please withhold it, I need all the help I can against him :+

sorry, not sure I can help other than suggesting maybe its com_soundMegs related. For info I have mine at "160" but no idea what the default back in the day was (maybe about 48?). Could be modern PC's with better audio need a larger than stock setting for this as due to higher quality game sounds. Oh and I haven't googled com_soundMegs but guessing along with hunkmegs is some sort of caching system. My hunkmegs is set at 512

Maybe it would also be worth testing turning off any realtek/other audio task tray thing that does "things" to the audio output like apply graphics equalizer settings or room acoustics/environment settings

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can’t be done.
