Hi all and Happy new year!

With our beloved Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory approaching 12 years of age, I was wondering what kind of hardware you guys run it on in 2015. So please, try to be honest ie no 'I run it on a Commodore 64'! :D

Here's mine (it would be great if you could keep to the same format)...

Processor: Core2Duo E8400 (overclocked to 3.5gz)
Motherboard: Biostar TP45HP
Memory: 4GB (@500Mhz)
Graphics: Geforce 8800GT (512Mb)
Soundcard: Asus Xonar DS
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream2 600W
Monitor: Acer X223W (22" LCD)
Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X4
Mouse: A4Tech X7 X-748K (Optical)

Also, as ET is the only game I play on my PC (as I assume it is for a lot of you), I'm only really interested in upgrading my hardware if I will see benefits in my ET frame-rate. So, I was thinking that, if there's enough interest, we could come up with a Demo and CFG that we could use to measure the performance of our set-ups to see how different hardware compares (and perhaps even jointly tweak this CFG over time to get the best performance out of it). What do you guys think?

Well I think this is a great idea for a community based hardware vs. cfg research thread. An updated one. I'll try to follow your format altho I'm not sure how to get all that information + my comp is 6+ years old so I forgot half the stuff in it :D

Processor: Quad Core (8 CPUs effectively), Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
Motherboard: MSI MS-7522
OS: Windows 7 (64bit)
Memory: 12GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Graphic Card Drivers: 13-9-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc
Soundcard: Realtek Digital (no clue lol)
PSU: Gigabyte 620
Monitor: LG Flatron W2242T (22")
Keyboard: Logitech K310 (it's washable :D a.k.a waterproof)
Mouse: Razer Copperhead (for life, pitty they're not making it any more, the last one I bought I had to hunt down on eBay)
Mousepad: Razer ExactMat X (using the control side, not the speed one)

Thanks or the reply.

You bought an i7 six years ago? That shows where the money is! I'd ask what sort of fps you achieve with that setup but that would be meaningless without a common demo and cfg we can use as a benchmark. I play shit and would be embarrassed to forward one of mine for use - perhaps you have one? (I was thinking radar might be best as that seems to be the most taxing)

Operating system and graphics driver versions should be added too, I think. (I still use XP, didn't like 7. Hopefully 10 will be everything 8 wasn't).

BTW Binary, would you recommend upgrading to an iCore cpu from a Core2Duo for general use?

Well I'm on Windows 7 and I love it to be honest. 8 is kack but they fixed a lot of things with 8.01, it's very lightweight and everything (most of what I know) just works, plain and simple. XP was an awesome OS in the Windows line, however I think it's a mammoth compared to Win 7 or Win 8.01.

I can run at 125 fps & 63 max packets (usually I run at 76, no idea why, back in my first clan we had an ET geek who created this whole script/cfg tree of files and timers and settings etc. all pretty much automated and bound to different hotkeys and the preferred setting back then was 76 fps & 77 max packets) smootly, not really sure if ET is the type of game where you would go higher with any better results fps-wise.

The major issue I am having lately (last couple of months) is that after let's say 10 minutes of smooth rock solid fps game play, I begin to experience huge fps instability with my fps constantly dropping from 76 to something like 36 and up again, which results in a "slideshow" type of game most of the times, mostly out on the open areas of maps.

I find it weird that I haven't yet found a solution.

1.) The problems start after a few minutes of very smooth playing (cache file problem? dunno something must be creating a bottleneck after a while)
2.) Open areas of maps tend to make the problem even worse, indoor gaming (closed areas of maps) very few fps instability issues.

If I have one, what do you mean a demo of me playing on Radar? No I don't record demos but I can if you wish of course.

As for iCore, of course I would, iCore is the new (well it's already 6 years old but well) standard. For general use i5 should be enough but I'd always go for an i7.

I will edit my list with OS and drivers version (talking about graphics card I assume?)

Processor: I-4790k @ 4.4 GHz
Motherboard: Asus Z97
Memory: 16 GB (@1600Mhz)
Graphics: GeForce 970 gtx (4gb)
Monitor: AOC G2460 G-SYNC ( 144hz )
Keyboard: Zowie celeritas mechanical keyboard
Mouse: Zowie FK 1 (Optical)
Mousepad: Puretrak talent

G-Sync monitor is absolutely best computer related purchase i've done in ages. Having a blast playing ET with it - finally no more screen tearing or input lag. That is because Q3 engine was made for CRT's without v-sync in mind, so G-sync works amazing with it. It was a mistake getting 970gtx for me personally. Maybe i'll sell it and get some cheaper gpu that still has the G-Sync support.
